Being Given an S9 Ultra, Private Music Lessons going well, and Campfire Activity Day
It's been a good week. In fact! Getting an S9 Ultra has come into fruition, all because of Sarah's mother, Helen Trefflich. She personally went to Best Buy herself to talk to customer service about why the Best Buy credit card was reported as fraudulent and then to order a new one in person just so that I could receive my tablet. She is a saint in having done this for me. So this happened on Tuesday morning during her lunch hour. That afternoon, while I was at Gilbert School of Music teaching and I got so excited getting the email from Best Buy saying that my tablet was available for pickup. Because of working on myself with Sarah, I had been at peace with when and if I would receive a tablet anytime soon, but I had 5ish more hours of work before I was to pick up my tablet.
I still need to buy a case for it. It is incredibly thin. Thinner than I even thought it could be. I do not want to break it. But I have spent the last few days breaking it in and getting it ready for use. Including using it in an adult piano lesson with Abby. I even finished making the logo for my Peanuts blog on a drawing app. It was pretty awesome. The funny thing is, I haven't been able to purchase MobileSheets yet for my tablet, just because we are pinching pennies saving for rent for the month of November. It costs $14.99. Hopefully I'll be able to get it soon.
My lesson with Abby went incredibly well. Funny thing about that, is that last week we had set up the piano that I usually use in the living room. In the process of experimenting with the keyboard that David got for me a year or so ago, we switched the cables that give the keyboard power. Throughout what had transpired and in the next day, I bent the little metal part in the DC outlet that connects our keyboard (that I usually use) to the power. I bent it and in the next day broke it. Not fun. So that keyboard currently is without power and I had to teach Abby on the keyboard that David got for me in the office. The lesson wasn't awkward and I had a fun time teaching her. Using the Christian Schafer Sight Reading Book 1, among other things to help her with her skill level.
I also was able to teach the Colemans Ukulele yesterday and that seems to always go well and there always seems to be something I can do to help them get better on the Ukulele.
We also had an Activity Days activity yesterday at the Farnsworth's house in the backyard. We wanted to set up a fire pit and teach the boys about fire starting and fire safety and roast hot dogs and marshmallows for s'mores. It was quite fun. I even brought my guitar. Sarah told her famous Phone Call scary story, and Strider told a story about a vampire/dracula. Eli brought a flint and metal and tried to start the fire but had no luck. But we did get the fire started.
Both Sarah and I were very tired for our Wednesday early morning shift at the temple. It even made me slap happy. Sarah and I were given the task to get the wrinkles out of the initiatory curtains. We used a steamer to do so. Sarah also confided in Jessica to help her out and feel better about some things. We do like her a lot. Annette is good to work with as well.
Another thing is that we have started a couple new series. On Sunday we started watching the show on BYU TV called Ruby and the Well. At first we were skeptical but it turns out it is a very fun family friendly show that is somewhat corny. Sarah also started LOST with me yesterday. IDK if she liked it as much as I did the first time. It doesn't help that she saw some of the first season 20 years ago when it came out. That is right, LOST is 20 years old!
