The State of the Classroom then, and the State of the Classroom Now
The condition that my classroom was in when I first walked in on April 15th, versus whaat it is now is starkly different.
First of all, the classroom is huge. And it was messy from all get out. They have had subs since at least January, maybe longer, and the room definitely reflected that. There were the main pitches of boomwhackers in nice bins, and then there were boomwhackers in buckets and it definitely didn't look organized. We organized them by size and we made a boomwhacker wall.
The classroom was devoid of pictures or posters except for in scatter places throughout. So we made and printed out posters from walmart and at the school. I used Infinite Painter, as well as Canva to make the posters. My pride and joy was making a Snoopy playing the saxophone with Woodstock on a music note, and I did it a la Andy Warhol, which I found out from Jacob is a painter based off in Pittsburgh Pennsylvania. I also made two other posters by splicing together certain things and adding really nice music quotes to them. And we hung them on the wall. We're also making instrument posters to hang up, and we made solfege posters to hang up.
We kept the old artwork as well, but put it all hung up in a centralized location.
I used borders for the whiteboard, colorful rainbow ones.
We rearranged some of the bigger instruments. To look nicer. We dusted off and made different things look nicer than they looked on the first day. We also rearranged the desk so that it is pointed diagonal out towards the classroom.
We took down the dots that were formed into a circle and made them into rows.
We are planning on labeling where the instruments go.
We put the home depot buckets together and made them look nicer.
We still haven't touched anything in the cupboards.
We also made the room 2/3rds as big. with the partition blocking off portions of the room.
And we moved all the band stuff to the back as well as put the hanging chair thing in line with the partition.
Overall, it looks a whole lot nicer, and it feels like a classroom I can work with now.
