The Three Week Saga and Miracle of Our Car and Labor Day Bake Goods Idea

On Friday, August 9th, we put our car in the shop. Specifically Parrot Discount Auto. The reason we chose him is because 1) he is a member of the church, 2) we have worked with him before, 3) we've actually been pretty pleased with his work in the past on our car, and 4) we had warranties with him on our transmission and spark plugs. We had no reservations with his service going in to taking our car to him.

Well, we had no estimation as to when our car would be done or worked on. We knew that he probably wouldn't work on it that Friday, as we didn't have an appointment with him to see him. But we figured it would take a week. Well, throughout that week we did our best to find rides and other help that all involved the use of a car. When we were done with that first week, we called him and asked for an estimation. He told us it would take more time, and to expect some work on it by the following Wednesday-Friday.

So we went through the same rigamaroll the following week of finding rides to things such as work, the grocery store, the water and ice place, Office Max, choir practice, church, and other places. But by the time Friday rolled around, we still hadn't had any word, and we were a little bit annoyed. So we called, and this time he didn't have any dates for us as to when the car would be done and he was a bit standoffish, as well as wasn't really communicating.

We go through another week of finding rides and making our way around town, with the help of so many friends. Thursday of the third week comes by and I am more than annoyed. Sarah noticed that I was annoyed, as well as sad that Ray wasn't communicating with us, not to mention having hard feelings towards him. Sarah advised me to pray, pouring my whole soul out to God. Not really in search of a miracle but mostly in search of some relief from my upset-ness and annoyance toward Ray, and that he would bless us that our car might come to us soon. I do this.

Today rolls around. We had made an appointment to go to the temple, but then Sarah had not been feeling good about what was going on, not really just with regard to our car, but also our current financial state and whether or not we would be able to pay rent. This morning she had had a epiphany about doing baked goods at a good price that would help us with our financial situation. But by the time Temple time made its way into our lives, she told me she wasn't feeling good and I could tell she was stressed.

So we made the decision not to go to the temple, and also to not take Sarah Mable at her offer of letting us borrow her car (as well as watch Nikolai for a night). Sarah ultimately called Alison Fox with regard to helping her talk things out and start feeling better about the day, and for more ideas regarding the baked goods idea.

Then we got to work and asked many people if they wanted to purchase baked good for the upcoming Labor Day holiday. We heard back from many ordering specific items. And a particular family, I'll call them LS, donated $200, instead of just the small amount we were going to ask for. We were surprised and asked if they had made a right donation and they had said yes and it's for gas. Well, elated at this miracle, we payed tithing and then we payed for our rent at the generosity of this family.

Then a few minutes later, we get a call from Ray Parrot, and he said our car is done. And because they thing it was something that they had worked on previously in our car, the cellunoid in the transmission, that they weren't going to charge us because it was covered under warranty. What great miracles this was!

We then called Alison Fox to tell her the news and to ask her if she could get our key and then later drive us back to pick up our car. She and Brother Massimini did and now we have our car, with so many miracles that this has been!
