My Brother Jacob's Wedding

My brother, Jacob, got sealed to Rachel Shelton in the Draper Utah temple December 3, 2022. The beautiful thing I see about this is that it mirrors our wedding date a little, they were married on Dec 03 and we were married Dec 30.

Getting prepared for the trip had been a long time in the making. When they announced that they were engaged and the date of the wedding, I had to buy my ticket back almost immediately because Sunday Dec 4 was my MCC choir concert, call time 1:30pm at the Methodist Church on 1st Ave. I bought a ticket for about $33 dollars from Allegiant. In fact, when I had told Dr. Simmons the circumstances regarding what plane we were taking back, he snickered and said good luck, because Allegiant is a cheap airline and they are not known for their reliable trips; case and point being my 7/8 hour delay in Idaho Falls when I visited Briana for Sunny's baby blessing last year. But both departing and return flights were successful ventures, including the fact that we brought a stroller without a child for said stroller onto the plane without hassle.

We arrived Thursday evening at the Provo Airport, and Jacob picked us up to take us to Sarah's cousins Lynda and Victor's house. He was gracious enough to let us borrow his 1999 Toyota Corolla the whole trip so we didn't have to worry about renting a car. It was nice to see him and meet Rachel that evening for the first time in person. She was very pleasant to the talk to, and Victor and Lynda were gracious hosts, then, and throughout our time there.

The next day, Sarah and I took the stroller to Sabina, and visited with her for several hours. On the way, we learned that the windshield wipers were not very good. In fact they were terrible, doing the opposite of what they were supposed to do: smearing the melted ice onto the windshield, making it impossible to see. Needless to say, after that death defying experience, we decided to buy Jacob windshield wipers, and fix his windshield wiper fluid container, the latter we couldn't actually do.

We met with the family at my parent's AirBnb and Sunny was able to warm up to Sarah and me. We then headed to Cafe Rio, where Briana and Tony covered the cost of the dinner with Gift Cards that they had purchased for Tony's painting company. It was a fun evening of getting to know Rachel and chatting and eating.

The next day was the wedding day. The sealing was wonderful, sealer saying words that were powerful about the Law of Sacrifice and Consecration in marriage.

The photographer was amazing, getting us to where we needed to be for pictures at the precise moments we needed to be there, especially on that cold, wintry day.

We then got ready for the luncheon. We helped set up. One thing that was special was that we were graced with the presence of Linda and Arnie Aune, as well as Steven and Janell, and Uncle David. I was able to talk to Arnie and just feel his of his wonderful presence, especially since he was in the middle of his experimental cancer treatment. The luncheon was fun and the food was good. The building was cold.

Then we got ready to go to the reception. They had churros and soft serve ice cream, as well as the croissant sandwiches from the luncheon. We saw some people from Fontana who now live in Utah, like the Hansens, Korina and Ruby. Braden was there with his wife as well. Andrea Palmer also showed up.

Braden, his wife, Andrea, Briana, Sarah, Gabrielle, and two strangers to Sarah and me, helped us decorate their car.

Sarah and I looking great!
