Christmastime 2022

This Christmas has been quieter than years past with Sarah.

First of all, we didn't get anything for each other; and while that may seem sad, I was okay with it. Everything I need is provided for at the exact right time. And though we didn't get anything for each other this year, it doesn't mean we won't get stuff for each other next year. Just this year it was different.

Sarah spent December 23rd making the biga to make Paneton. The 24th, we may have left it too long, because it was definitely overproved. But the Paneton that Sarah made was really good. We put dried cherries, gold raisins, dried cranberries, dried pineapple, and chocolate chips. I really liked it. The chocolate chips made it really great.

The Masters and Gippers invited us over for Christmas Eve, but both of them cancelled on us. It didn't really mess up anything, except that we didn't have a dinner. And later that night, after making a tuna salad, we went to our local Waffle House, off the 60 freeway on Idaho. It was the only place that was open. We looked at Filibertos in two places, and Denny's, but surprisingly, both were closed and closing. We also were going to go to McDonalds, but it was packed, and then Sarah said we should go to Waffle House, because she was hungry, too. It actually went from Christmas Eve to Christmas morning while we were there. We went to see the Apache Junction tree and took some pictures by it.

We watched the Muppet Christmas Carol, which was a good reminder of the spirit of Christmas. We also started City Slickers, which we finished on the 26th. We also watched Knives Out, and Glass Onion, the recent sequel to Knives Out.

We then went to the 6pm mass at the Catholic church across the street from us, St. George's. It was the first mass I had been to since Lucy and Jesus got married in Peru. It was a good experience and we took pictures afterward. We were also reminded of miracles that DO come.

Church was good on Christmas day.

We then had a family council.

Followed by a Trefflich zoom call.

Then we went to the Large's, Stephanie and Nick, Claire, Rosie and Jacob, to have dinner that night. It was really fun being with them and eating turkey and mashed potatoes. We also played a Harry Potter match it game.

Fun day, all in all.
