Tucson-First time on a Waterslide and other Adventures

At the beginning of the year, I got sick, causing Sarah to take off a lot of work. She took so much off that she had entirely forgotten that up until now, mid-August, she has been accumulating sick days. So we decided to take mid-week vacation to Tucson. We didn't choose Tucson out of randomness either. Sarah has been craving the water park scene ever since we moved to Arizona. Seeing as how we live pretty close to Sunsplash, we didn't think it would be long until we had gone to it. Well, our first year in Arizona, Summer came and went and so did our chances to go. Then this Summer rolled around, but so did an epidemic and the closing down of water-parks.

Sarah heard from her boss, Nayeli of a great resort in Tucson, called the Westin La Paloma Resort that had a waterslide and several pools. That was enough information to convince her to take a few of those days off. We decided to go last week because it was the week before school for me and a good time to take to relax.

We did our grocery shopping for it on the Saturday before, including chips for the trip, grapes and stuff to make homemade bread and ham sandwiches. We did our research and decided that for the day part of our trip, we would go to the Pima Air and Space Museum. We had a long night the night before so we got out later than we had hoped but in reality it was the perfect time because it place us at the resort right when we needed to be there, and we weren't going to spend a whole day at the Museum.

The museum was really fascinating. It had planes and helicopters from all walks of life: the different World Wars and other Wars fought by the United States, several planes from other countries, jets, and personal planes. Sarah and I were really fascinated by the water aircraft, and I really liked seeing the flighter jets and Air Force 1.

This was the plane that Sarah affectionately called her baby, and her dream plane for when she learns how to fly.

A very big water aircraft!

After the Air and Space Museum, we had made plans to check out a park that was called Gethsemane Park. It had sculptures of The Last Supper, His tomb, and on the cross. These were by a man that wanted to dedicate his life to Christ after a war that he fought in.

Then we had to see the Tucson Arizona Temple, which was actually only like 10 minutes away from the resort. Throughout the two days we visited it twice. This one is very unique, with a dome on top of the temple with an Angel Moroni connected.

We had a lot of fun at the resort. It was my first time ever going down a water slide. I had a blast doing so. They had a mineral healing pool with extremely cold water, and a saltwater pool for adults and several Jacuzzis. It was a blast and the hotel room was really nice.

On our second day, after going down the slide, my foot got scraped on the ground coming off the slide. 4 of my 5 toes on my right foot were scraped up pretty bad, so we had to stop and get myself bandaged. The hotel called two people to talk to me to make sure everything was up to code and that others wouldn't get hurt by the same things.

Sarah also enjoyed watching me go down the slide for the first time. Apparently I made a face she will never forget. I hadn't test to see how deep the pool connected to the waterslide was so when I got off, I was dog-paddling for dear life. I was a little freaked out, to say the least. Sarah tried a maneuver that shot her out the slide. It winded her for a good 5 minutes.

All in all, a great time.

We also went to the mall close to the resort. We did some window shopping and found a dog shop that was finding homes for dogs that were a little older. We got to sit with a dog called Hero and another named Lady. They were laid back dogs.
