First week Training and Classroom Set up, Plus Donor's Choose Donations

I had my first full week at Santa Ynez Elementary. It was a teacher in service week, where, on the first day and the fourth day, Sarah and I spent most of the day decorating my classroom. Sarah also came on the Wednesday to do some decorating without me, but with all our effort combined we were able to make the classroom look so nice. The other two days were training. A little about workplace bullying and mentoring new teachers as well as looking up to seasoned teachers for their knowledge. The meeting was also about learning some of the standards that people follow. The following day was also about the new system "Aeries," Which is the grading system. It may or may not apply to me, we'll see.

Here are some pictures from the classroom setup.

One of the things that was sad is that the xylophones, metallophones, and glockenspiels were not taken care of as well as they could've been. We got 6 or so that work, and 10 that are without bars or broken in some way. Hopefully that can be repaired in some way or so.

The Superintendent, Principal, and a teacher told me about Donor's Choose, a website where people can donate funds for a teacher to receive some sort of benefit for their classroom. I did a 2 one hundred dollar gift cards for teachers pay teachers (which is a website that sells different resources to teachers that they might need). I had two of my friends and family contribute including my friend Stephanie, and I had another donor from Solvang, CA donate all the rest. It was pretty outstanding. I plan to give more opportunity for my friends and family to donate!

Here are some more pictures of me.

    1. You're right! I think I'm already taking it for granted. I get to see all the students walk up the way as they walk to recess. It's really nice. The unfortunate, or fortunate thing depending on my perspective, is that it is tinted on the outside.
