Our Time at Avila Beach on Labor Day Weekend

Sarah took me to Avila Beach on Labor Day weekend. It was supposed to be a surprise for last week, but I gave her a rebellious attitude the week before because I have a so-so relationship with water not ever having learned to swim properly (it's on my to do list, hopefully for this year). Kirsten and David loaned us chairs and blankets, thankfully, but we weren't able to find the canopy, so we brought an umbrella. However, when we got there, we decided to park ourselves under the pier for shade and it worked out pretty well. Speaking of parking, getting parking was a miracle because we were able to park really close to the beach and it was hardly a problem.

One of the things we did was go in the water. But because it was after 3pm, the waves were large and choppy and Sarah and I got pummeled several times. Because of that we went to go sit in the sand that still was getting hit by water. Which now, having seen Airplane with the Trefflich family reminds me of the scene where the main character and the girl are kissing on the beach and they are getting overrun by the tide. That was happening to us, except we were just sitting tandem facing the water. In the end, we got a lot of sand on ourselves and even in our bathing suits (which was kinda unexpected).

We then walked along the beach and had some really great conversation about our hopes and dreams for the future, and Sarah even got on the rocks, with me as supervisor. We talked about our future kids and if they would have curly hair, and Sarah pulled out this picture of me, to keep on her phone forever because she thinks I'm so cute.
