Ivy Rose's Baby Blessing Weekend

The weekend of Jacob and Sarah's (my sister's) birthday, Sarah and I had the opportunity to go see and participate in Ivy Rose's baby blessing. Our family, along with Rachel's family, were both present. It was a special occasion for a lot of us because this was the first time we were able to meet little Ivy Rose. She is just a delight of a niece.

Sarah and I were marooned in Irvine for a night because our Allegiant flight got cancelled and postponed to the next day. A lot of the flyers were not happy about the change, and it wasn't just our flight, it was also the flight from Santa Ana to Idaho Falls that was cancelled to the next day. They did reimburse us for our "food and lodging," but what wasn't cool, is that the money didn't transfer immediately. I'm sure that didn't make a lot of people happy either. Sarah and I went to the Newport Beach temple, as well as stayed at the Comfort Inn, and did some swimming and jacuzzying.

Our flight did work the next day and we were able to see the family for lunch in Provo. We went to Peru 51 for lunch and had a smorgasbord of different entrees at our disposal. It was quite the feast. We also did some light dancing with the kiddos. And took some pictures next to the happy birthday balloon heart, conveniently placed a day before Sarah and Jake's birthday.

We then went to BYU Bookstore, where my dad and I looked at some books and we took pictures in front of the cool new sign (that is in front of construction). Jake also took me to see the new music building and I, of course, needed to take a picture in front of the Choral Hall.

That night we used the time to hang out with the family. Sarah A. had this creative "Good Mythical Morning-esque" type of game where we tried different foods from different countries and tried to guess where they were from. There was a huge printout of the World, and there were some countries that were marked as red-herrings. There was some pickled snack, some crackers, chips, and even some desserts and yucca.

We also played a game called frequency, which I knew about but Sarah A. perfected by making it a game we could play off the phones. We had a lot of laughs, even so much as bringing up some funny scenarios. In the game one person does not know a number from 1-10, 1 being bad and 10 being great, and 5 being in the middle. The person who is chosen has to ask each of the family members a category and judge based on their answers, what the number is. Everyone is in agreement that it has to be the one number, but that doesn't mean that the person who is it, actually will agree with your opinion.

The next morning, Sarah and I went on a hike to so see a lookout in Provo Canyon. We enjoyed beautiful sites and made it back with just enough time for the baby blessing.

That evening, we all went to Provo Canyon and ate Cafe Rio, sang songs like Coco and the Yellow Submarine, sang happy birthday and ate cake, and played frisbee. Sunny had this amazing way of throwing the frisbee where she tossed it up in the air with both hands, even after I showed her a way of throwing.

Then we made it back home on an on-time Allegiant flight.

  2. Love seeing the pictures from the trip! Also, fun fact that I learned last month: The BYU Bookstore is now re-branded as the BYU Store!
