Our Week with Marcus, and an Almost Trefflich Free Week
From Tuesday through Friday, all the Trefflichs but Marcus, went on a Youth Campout in Yosemite. While they were away we watched Marcus.
Kirsten had arranged play-dates for Marcus every day during the day, so really, we would watch him at night and right before he went to his play-date. The first day that the family was gone, I told Marcus that I was going to study scriptures in the morning and he asked if he could join. I said yes and we read this weeks Come, Follow Me section 76 from the Doctrine and Covenants. The days we were with him, we got all the way to verse 70, and then he surprised us on Sunday by telling the whole family that he had finished the section on his own. We were super amazed and proud of that guy.
One night we had burgers, zuchinni and mushrooms on the grill. Another night we made pizza from dough we made from the bread machine. One day we had Marcus pretty much all day, and Jame-o came over to play or he would go to Jame-o's house. It was funny because we had the Switch out to play video games, and they were prompted to play Snipper-clips, which is just a hilarious game. They were rather silly playing that game.
Another game we played on the Switch, really the main game, was Zelda: Breath of the Wild. We had Marcus play, and a good majority of the time he was with us, he would play that game. I was getting super distracted the other days (besides the first day). He did a good job, he got all the way through the Great Plateau (which really is the introduction) and to Kakariko, before he had to stop playing.
We took him to piano on Wednesday, and that was Sarah's last voice/piano lesson for a while.
And on July 11th, Kirsten sent us a text reminding us that it was 7/11, so we should get a free slushie from 7/11. He got a mixture and I got Sarah and me a cherry and pina colada slushie. And the 7/11 guy didn't charge me for Sarah's, even though she wasn't there.
The picture with Marcus was taken after our last day of scripture reading.
It was really cute. When the family came home, Marcus jumped on David with a big hug and legs wrapped around his torso. Then David, smiling, said that Marcus had grown since he had last seen him. And he had him stand back to back with Kirsten to compare. Then Marcus showed that he could jump and touch the top of the door frame.
