Taking Arno to LAX and Helen's Total Hip Replacement
So, in just a few days, things have been turned up on their heads.
Yesterday, we took Arno from Santa Maria to LAX so that he could fly to Maryland and spend a month with Arnie. We left at 4:45am so that we could get to his gate by 10:05am. We stopped twice, once for gas and the second time to switch drivers and go to the bathroom. We made it to LAX in record time. I was the driver into LA. But we made it to check him in on time, get him to the gate with passes (going through security) and enjoy our day from then on.
The only thing is, is that the night prior we had found out that Helen (Sarah's Mom) had fallen outside of her vehicle onto the curb and broken her femur/hip. So the whole morning of the drive, Sarah was talking to Athena and her Mom, and I was running around with my head cut off not knowing the area of LA, especially without my phone since Sarah was using it to call these people.
We made it to our destinations, like LAX, and especially the hospital in one piece.
Helen was waiting to have surgery on her hip, and we learned that it was better to have total hip replacement instead of partial, because of how active Helen is as a person. We also learned that she would be able to walk the next day after the surgery, which is just crazy. We spent time with Christina, who spent that whole day and evening with her after the surgery, and Danny and Carol came as well. We had stimulating conversation with them all and enjoyed the day together before...
I went to go help Helen with her piano student. She asked me yesterday if I would be able to take her piano students, at least for the next 2-3 days. I told her that I could. So yesterday I met Nicki, her half hungarian half indian student and her mom. The lesson went extremely well Nicki was definitely a great student. I commited her to pracitcing 3 times a week on M-W at 9:30am.
Today is the day after the surgery and she is doing pretty great. Just like the doctor knew and predicted, Helen was able to walk with the help of the physical therapist and the occupational therapist with very minimal pain.
Some things that we have been having to discuss is how long Sarah and I want to stay here, which the Spirit is saying to help out with the next two weeks of piano students, but also wondering if we should go back to Santa Maria to help out Kirsten and David with their anniversary so they can go to the Avila while we help watch the kids. And also so that I can give a tallk. The spirit told me to follow my emotioal wave, so we'll see what we do.
