First Trip to the Los Angeles Temple with Sarah's Mom

Sarah and I are making it a priority to attend the temple as much as we can. That being said, the Los Angeles Temple is three hours away from where we live so it is quite a trip and it does take a full gas tank to go.

We were blessed to have some help with gas, as Arno gave us money to fill up our tank for the trip.

We decided to stop in Solvang for a couple of hours to eat and to go to a shop or two. We got a red sausage (rod polse) and we got a bratwurst and we shared. We also got two whole things of potato salad, but this was the Danish version of it, and it was very sour compared to other potato salads that we got. We also got Aebleskiver (which is like a donut with fruit or chocolate on it-we got rasberry) and we got a chocolate covered Florentine (cookie). We looked at the gift shops and a gem shop.

We also decided to stop in Ventura to go to Lakeshore store. And we picked up a few things for my classroom. Then we also stopped at La Capilla in Los Angeles, where Sarah's family goes to eat Mexican food, and we got nachos and chips and great salsa.

Then we stayed the night at Sarah's mom's house.

I had a NAfME general music conference the next morning, and Helen had to teach piano. But after that we decided to go to the temple. In the temple we were able to do an endowment as well as see Kate Bruner in the Celestial Room as a temple worker. She thought we were going to be there earlier, so she didn't know if she was going to see us, but we went later, and by so doing we were able to see her, which was a miracle.

Before the temple we went to the Church Distribution Center. A small store. Where Helen was able to replace some of the temple clothes that were in her last car that was stolen. She also got me a piece of temple clothing, all at a newly endowed member's price, since the lady was so nice and knew that Helen had not changed her temple clothes ever since she got married.

After the temple endowment, Sarah and I were able to go see the baptismal font, which in my mind is in this great big room (since the last time I had seen it was when I was probably 12 or 13 years old), but really is just a normal sized room with a font. How things change from your childhood mind.

Then we took pictures outside.

Then we went to Tito's Tacos and got tacos and burritos. We were blessed to sit in the dining room of the restaurant because it was just about to close, and Sarah's mom did not want us to eat in her car. On our was out, we were able to see a rainbow.

Then we went to Mitsuwa and bought David some "milk" bread at Christina's request for his birthday.

We left the next morning and got to church on time.
