Helen Comes: Sarah's Mom Gets to Meet Brent Jorgensen

 One thing that was really clear about Helen's want for this trip was that she really wanted to meet my friend, and composer of a widely used Organ chains as well as other things, Brent Jorgensen. I did my best to get us a time to meet with him one night she was here. We could tell that Helen was star-struck. She loves using Organ chains and was excited to meet the man that wrote these works. She also kept on saying that now she can tell her friends that she now has met Brent.

We sat with him in the Mesa Temple Visitor's Center. He told us about how one of the hymns in the new hymn book; the about section talks about how his friend got the inspiration to write this piece based off of a suggestion from Brent.

After Helen asked him so many questions and got to know him. We were able to get Sarah's mom to play the piano for him. It was probably a very surreal experience for Helen, because she was playing for someone that she knows has written so many great things. I think it was very special. Brent was such a good sport.

Later that night, we all wanted to go to the Ironwood Ward Elder's Quorum BBQ. We enjoyed spending time with them and Helen really enjoyed talking to Mary Stock and Jan Edwards, including making connections that we didn't know were a thing.
