Student's Piano Recital

One thing I did not want to fail to mention is that the first Saturday of December, my piano students, Michael Smith and Strider Farnsworth participated in a piano recital that I helped them prepare for. It was actually inspired by Sarah. Around Halloween, she hinted to Aubri Farnsworth that I should invite Strider to perform in a recital. I was caught, and I said I would try my best to do so.

I then arranged with Sister Keisy Pendergrass from the Liahona V ward in Mesa/Chandler and our last stake, to hop in on their Christmas Piano Recital. She was extremely nice and said she would love to have my two students. Funnily enough, she knew Strider's family from previous interactions.

I then told Michael Halloween night that I had signed him up for a piano recital.

I was committed.

So, I spent all of November preparing them for their recital.

I decided on a version of Deck the Halls and a Polish Carol called Lulaje Jesuniu (Sleep, Little Jesus) for Strider. Michael wanted to play something he had practiced before and a version of Carol of the Bells (fortunately I had a copy of that). He didn't want to learn a second because he had broke his left hand and would not have a lot of time to practice a second.

In the end, it was quite a successful and fun event. The recital (and rehearsal) was at Sister Pendergrass' house and the place was filled to the brim with parents and relatives. There were about 10 kids performing.

Honestly, I was a bit worried that I had not done good enough preparing them for the recital, but when I heard the other kids and their preparedness level, I was actually surprisingly pleased with the skill at which my two boys were performing. Good job, Michael and Strider.
